9th training session for young volunteers

On November 19, 2018, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of State Gilbert Ondongo, opened the 9th Pre-deployment Training Session of the African Union Youth Corps. A hundred young people from several countries in different parts of Africa will receive various lessons during this session, which will end on November 30th. In his opening speech, Minister of State Gilbert Ondongo first noted the place occupied by youth in the vast development of Africa: "Africa loves his youth. Africa celebrates its youth. Africa relies on its youth. Youth is the future of Africa ... ".

The Fifth Ordinary Session of the Steering Committee of the Economic and Financial Reform Program of CEMAC (PREF-CEMAC) was held on June 22, 2018, in DOUALA (Republic of Cameroon), under the chairmanship of His Excellency Gilbert ONDONGO, Minister of State, Minister of Economy, Industry and Public Portfolio of the Republic of Congo, Chairman of the said Committee.

Industrial zone of Maloukou : Congo and Build Africa Energy Sign Site Electrification Act

On June 1st, 2018, the Minister of State, Minister in charge of Industry, Gilbert Ondongo and the President and CEO of Build Africa Energy, Miles G. Oates, signed the protocol for electrification and management of the industrial zone of Maloukou. This allows in the next days, the execution of the project in two phases: the connection of Maloukou to the SNE and the development-construction of a solar field of 5 megawatts scalable up to 100 megawatts. The overall cost of the works is estimated at 16 billion CFA francs.

Signature between the government and the Skytic Telecom company of the service delegation contract of the telecommunication network

This contract covers: the management, marketing, operation, maintenance, maintenance and renewal of the optical fiber telecommunications network on the Congo-Gabon axis. This contract was signed jointly by, on the one hand, Gilbert Ondongo, Minister of State, Minister in charge of Industry and Leon Juste Ibombo, Minister in charge of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy; on the other hand, by Jean Serge Ngouma, CEO of Skytic Telecom. Its duration is three years. In the absence of a wealth company and the need for rapid operation, in order not to support the fixed costs related to equipment, the government has opted for this transitional management. A six-month test period will be observed.

The Republic of Congo gets an electronic investments guide

The guide was created at the initiative of the Agency for the Promotion of Investments (API)  for use by potential investors. It became operational on January 24, 2018. By getting the tool, the Congolese Government  has moved  a  step forward  in promoting investments.

CFA Franc: "The sovereignty of a country cannot be judged by its currency"

For the Congolese Minister of the Economy, African States must strive to build real competitive economies, rather than worrying about having each their own currency. This does not prevent it from suggesting changes in the monetary policy of the CFA zone, in particular the shift from fixity to the euro to controlled flexibility.
